On a hybrid or electric vehicle the 12 V network is maintained by a DC/DC converter that steps the traction battery voltage down. There is usually no alternator, so a flat auxiliary battery must not be assumed to be a simple battery fault.
Diagnosis splits cleanly: measure the 12 V output and the DC/DC enable/communication (12 V side), and separately measure the parasitic drain with the vehicle asleep. If the DC/DC is enabled but produces no output, the fault is on the converter or its output path.
