Every protected circuit has a weak point designed to fail first: a fuse element, a circuit breaker or a fusible link. The rating protects the cable and the surrounding harness, so it is chosen from the wire size and the expected load together.
When a fuse blows it is a symptom, not the disease. Replacing it without finding the overload invites a repeat — and possibly a fire. Use the fuse map, then isolate the circuit.

Typical training example: a 10 A blade fuse is often used for a 15–20 A cable carrying a modest load; the exact relationship is manufacturer specific.
