Four units, one instant conversion
Enter any pressure and get PSI, bar, kPa and kg/cm2 at once. Handy when a placard, a pump and a gauge all use different units.
- 1 bar = 14.504 PSI
- 1 PSI = 6.895 kPa
- 1 kg/cm2 = 14.223 PSI
Temperature and altitude
Tire pressure changes about 1 PSI per 10F (5.6C). The placard value is a cold setting, so when the weather drops you need more air to keep the same pressure. Altitude reduces a tire load capacity, which is why the tool suggests a small extra pressure per 1,000 ft as a rule of thumb.
- Set the target (placard) pressure
- Enter reference and current temperatures
- Add altitude if you drive at elevation
FAQ
Cold: at least 3 hours after driving. The placard pressure is defined for cold tires. Adding air to a hot tire over-inflates it once it cools.
Cold air is denser and contracts. Roughly 1 PSI is lost for every 10F drop, so a cold snap can light the TPMS warning.
