Harness repair is where good intentions go wrong. A repair must restore current capacity and resist vibration, moisture and heat. That means the correct wire gauge, a proper crimp with the right tool, and sealed, strain-relieved joints.

The classic mistakes are twisting wires with tape, soldering where solder wicks and cracks, using the wrong terminal, and routing the repair where it will chafe. Every repair should be documented and re-tested under load with a voltage-drop check.

  1. Identify the circuit and choose the same gauge wire.
  2. Cut back to clean copper, free of corrosion.
  3. Crimp with the correct tool and terminal.
  4. Seal with heat-shrink (adhesive-lined where moisture is a risk).
  5. Route and secure, then verify with a voltage-drop test under load.
