Why torque matters

Over-tightening stretches bolts and cracks parts; under-tightening lets them loosen under vibration. Every critical fastener has a specification in the workshop manual.

• Wheel bolts : typically 90–120 Nm
• Spark plugs : typically 20–30 Nm
• Oil drain plug : typically 25–40 Nm
• Caliper bracket bolts : typically 80–120 Nm
• Cylinder head bolts : always follow the manual sequence and angles
