Tap a part to see how it fits in the system.

What it does

  • Removes dust and particles from intake air
  • Protects the MAF sensor and engine
  • Clogged filters starve the engine of air

When it fails

  • Poor acceleration
  • Higher fuel consumption
  • Black smoke from a rich mixture
  • MAF codes from contamination

How to diagnose

  1. Hold it up to light: clogged filters look dark
  2. Inspect the housing and seals

Maintenance

  • Replace every 15k–30k km or per the manual
  • Inspect more often in dusty conditions
  • Clean the housing when changing the filter
Use the diagnosis order. When a part fails, confirm each hypothesis with measurements before replacing anything — codes and symptoms overlap.
